Introduction.....

This blog is about the process it takes to build a modern but rustic house and all the drama that comes with it. January 2014 My wife and I finally said we were done living in a typical neighborhood. We had never planned on living in that type of neighborhood to begin with but it was a pretty neighborhood and when we moved in it was ideal. We had woods on one side and reserve land on the other. I called the city and the reserve land was suppose to stay a nature reserve land but within a couple years we had a plaground and a basket ball court next door. Ten years later we had enough and decided to stop waiting (for what I don't know) The market was bad and I guess we were just waiting for the value of our house to come back up. We had kids and it really was ideal for having a couple kids. The playground next door became a blessing in desguise and the neighboors next door were great. Moving forward we now decided it was time to get moving. We lightly talked about buying property up north as a gettaway but we wanted our getaway to be "everyday" So we luckly found property within only a couple miles of our home that had 4 acres with trees wrapping the property and it was back on a dead end road. The purchase process has been horrible and the cash you need up front for the land and build has been stressing but it has also been fun. We plan on doing a lot of the work ourselves. So, not only will you get to see what it's like to build a new home you will get to see some of the fun, tedious, challenging and stressful projects that go into the build process. I will be posting pics and vid and my impressions of the whole thing. Next I will cover the Home design selection process, picking a builder and other subject we have already experienced.
